Meet our Directors & Staff

Band Director - Ally Capone

Ms. Capone earned her Bachelor’s degree in Instrumental Music Education from The University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, MS. Outside of the band hall, Ms. Capone enjoys going on hikes, kayaking, cooking, and watching movies with her cat. Ms. Capone is already making a great impact on the band in her short time here. In addition to band, Ms. Capone is teaching Percussion and Piano throughout the school year.

Band Director - Tyler Umpleby

Mr. Umpleby, a graduate of Trevecca Nazarene University, has been Director of Bands at Rising Sun High School since 2017. He has been a member of numerous ensembles and was Trevecca Musician of the Year in 2016. Along with his work with the Green Hill High School Band, Mr. Umpleby will teach AP Music Theory and Orchestra.

“The opportunity to be a part of opening a new school and to help facilitate creating a culture, community, and a high level of musicianship is a dream come true. I am looking forward to laying a foundation of instrumental music programs in which genuine human interactions and exceptional music making are the focus.”

Daniel Percell - Color Guard Director and Choreographer

Daniel performed with Coffee County Central High School Red Raider Color Guard during his time in high school. Color guard has been an influential part of his life which is why he loves the activity above all others. In 2015, he decided to further his training by joining Eklipse Winter Guard in addition to becoming the director and choreographer for the Coffee County Red Raider Color Guard. After a year of teaching, he performed with Eklipse Winter Guard again and continued marching until 2018. As Daniel finished his age-out year with Eklipse, his students at Coffee County won 1st place in their division and were named Tennessee State Champions. In addition to working with Green Hill, Daniel currently works as a technician for Open and IRA.

He has worked with multiple programs across the Middle Tennessee area and Kentucky including Mt. Juliet HS, Oakland HS, McCracken HS, Christian County HS, Riverdale HS, and Beech HS.

John Baudendistel - Percussion Director

John Baudendistel is an active music educator and composer in the middle-Tennessee area.  He is currently the Band Director at Watertown Middle School and Percussion Director for Green Hill High School. He holds a Bachelors of Music Education degree from Middle Tennessee State University.  He was previously the Percussion Director for Cascade High School and Summit High School.

John has extensive prior experience as a educator and performer.  In the pageantry arts, he was a member of Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps, Phantom Regiment, and Chattanooga Independent Percussion.  While at MTSU, John studied under WGI/DCI adjudicator Julie Davila and Tim Maynard.  John has also previously performed with Tennessee Valley Winds, Independent Musical Productions, and side-by-side with the Nashville Symphony.
